What Does the Wound Certification Prep Course Prepare Me For?

The Wound Certification Prep Course will prepare you for the CWS®, CWCA® or CWSP® board certification exams, and the magnet-recognized list of national certifications included in the Demographic Data Collection Tool.

After attending WCPC or becoming certified you can experience enhanced success within your career, as your patients and colleagues look to you as the expert in wound management, and improved outcomes for your patients.

Who Takes the CWCA® Examination?

The ABWM requires 3 years of experience in the wound care industry. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be doing the procedures themselves. The 3 years is cumulative and can include residency or fellowship time experience as well.

MSN (Associate's)
BSN (Associate's)
NP (Associate's)
RN (Associate's)
PA (Associate's)
LPN (Associate's)
NA (Associate's)

Who Takes the CWS® Examination?

The ABWM requires 3 years of hands-on clinical experience in wound care.

New: As of January 1, 2019, licensed RNs with associate level degrees are eligible to sit for the Certified Wound Specialist exam. This decision was made in light of the fact that all nurses pass the same state licensing board exam regardless of whether they have an associate or bachelor’s degree. In light of these changes, any current CWCA who tested within the last 3 years can sit for the CWS exam for a fee of $300. This does not apply to 10-year recertification.

MSN (Bachelor's)
BSN (Bachelor's)
NP (Bachelor's)
RN (Bachelor's or Associate's)
PA (Bachelor's)
LPN (Bachelor's)

Researcher NA (Bachelor's)

Who Takes the CWSP® Examination?

What if I Want to Take the Course but Would Prefer Taking Something Online Rather Than a 2-Day Live Course?

We offer a convenient Virtual Course or On-Demand option for participants looking for a course they can take from the comfort of their homes or office.

The Virtual course is a 2-day course, hosted by 3 of our expert faculty members in real time. You and your peers will be able to interact and ask questions, providing the same in-class experience as our live course.

The On-Demand program gives you 24/7 access to take the course on your own time, at your own pace for either 90 days of unlimited access or 365 days of unlimited access.
